Bulgaria Project background
The project "Adult Education in Bulgaria" is a part of the project "Strengthening of the local and regional Adult Education establishments - helping the stability in Southeast Europe", realized by the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (IIZ/DVV), Bonn. The Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development financially supports the project.
The IIZ/DVV has been working with Bulgarian partners since 1994, and opened its own Project Office in Sofia at the beginning of 2000. This is now also the regional coordination and evaluation office for all activities in Southeastern Europe.
Focus of activities:
- Creation and development of general and vocational adult education provision
- Implementation of European standards of certification in computing and foreign languages
- Curriculum development and training of trainers
- Structural support for providers: inservice training in organizational development and purchasing
- Expansion and promotion of continuing education advice centers
- Advice to ministries on enshrining lifelong learning in legislation
- Cooperation over educational provision for marginalized groups of the population: support with design and funding of measures for the unemployed, ethnic minorities and the disabled.
We do not see ourselves as a donor organization but as professional partners sharing our experiences and resources for common purposes and constantly learning from our partners.
